Renowned for her artistic versatility, soprano Carol Wilson’s extensive career encompasses multiple genres: opera, oratorio, art song, contemporary chamber music, early music, and even ragtime. After a 12-year opera career as a principal singer at Deutsche-Oper-am-Rhein in Düsseldorf, Germany, and guest appearances at some of the foremost opera houses worldwide, she was appointed Professor of Voice at UNT in 2012. Ms. Wilson earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Yale School of Music and was awarded their Music Alumni Association Prize. A native Iowan, she has held teaching positions at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Vassar College, Sarah Lawrence College, with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria, the Amalfi Coast Festival, and the Varna International Academy of Music. She has an impressive legacy of singers who are professionally active on national and international stages and recently established the NTX Vocal Arts Exchange, an organization which focuses on the exchange of ideas and partnerships for those in the vocal arts, helping them adapt to multiple career opportunities in today’s world.
