Joel Wiley

Joel D. Wiley serves as Director of Admissions for the UNT College of Music overseeing the admission, application, audition, and recruitment process. Mr. Wiley also coordinates the College of Music Ambassador program, which he began in 2012.
He has been an invited clinician and presenter at the Texas Counseling Association Conference, NAfME National In-Service, Texas Music Educators Association Convention, College Board Southwest Regional Conference, Higher Education Consultants Association, and National Association for College Admission Counseling. Recently, two articles which he co-authored were published in the Journal of Educational Administration and History and Journal of School Counseling.
Mr. Wiley completed his undergraduate studies in voice and opera at the University of Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University. He received a master’s in music-vocal performance from the University of North Texas College of Music. He has numerous opera, musical theatre, and concert credits throughout the country with companies such as the Richmond Symphony, Oklahoma Opera Theater, Fort Worth Opera, Cimarron Circuit Opera Company, North Texas Opera Theater, and The Dallas Opera. Mr. Wiley served for five years as the Michaelsen Artist in Residence at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Dallas.
Joel was the 2018-19 recipient of the Steve Miller Outstanding Employee Award representing the highest honor a UNT staff member can receive.
