Sorrel Bohannan McCarthy

Sorrel Bohannan McCarthy, soprano, is pursuing a both a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (emphasis in education, literature, and creative writing) at the University of North Texas, where she is also employed as a graduate teaching assistant and as the resident stage manager for UNT Opera. Sorrel is a multi-faceted and cross-disciplinary artist whose interests, experience, and credits include projects in classical music, performance art, poetry, play and libretto writing, directing, stage management, musical theatre, historical dance, and dramaturgy. In addition to her creative portfolio, Sorrel is also a talented arts administrator and manager, sought after for her ability to provide warm interpersonal support and create genuine community for artists, while simultaneously creating and maintaining organizational systems that promote efficiency and productivity for the business side of artistic organizations. In addition to her work in the arts, Sorrel holds Bachelor of Arts degrees from UNT in both political science and social science (emphasis history) and has worked both as a substitute teacher in Coppell ISD and as a supplemental instructor for the history department at North Central Texas College. Since 2016, Sorrel has served as the Director of Education at The Actors Conservatory Theatre, a children’s theatre in Lewisville, Texas where she created an original theatre education program that now offers 12-15 classes a semester for kids ages 4-18.
